Geraldine is a rural town of 2000 situated on the edge of the Canterbury Plains, in the South Island of New Zealand. Geraldine is 35 km north of Timaru and 150km south of Christchurch.

The town services the farming community in the local district, and is within commuting distance of Timaru. Over half of the children attending the school travel into the town from the surrounding area.
